PEORIA, Ill. (WEEK) -- -

The suspect in an armed robbery at a Peoria Subway is in custody after a brief standoff with police Tuesday.

1470 News Radio reports officers were called to the Subway in the 1800 block of N. Knoxville just before 12:30 p.m. A man was reported implying he had a weapon during the robbery before running from the scene.

A man matching the suspect description was later seen in the 1600 block of N. New York. The man ran from police and barricaded himself in a garage off an alley, the radio station reported.

Officers arrived at the scene, and negotiators managed to convince the suspect to surrender peacefully without further incident, 1470 reported.

The incident remains under investigation.
