Bomb threat cracked by surveillance cams in Streator

Posted: Updated:

Video cameras in a North Central Illinois school helped administrators quickly find a student they say made an idle
bomb threat Monday in Streator.

The Woodland Community Unit 5 School District website has a post from Superintendent Ryan McGuckin, explaining a threat was written on a bathroom stall in the junior high portion of the school Monday and was reported just before noon.

But thanks to surveillance cams, they apparently found a suspect who admitted to writing it, but also said there was no way to actually carry it out.

The Livingston county sheriff's office is investigating.
