EAST PEORIA, Ill. (WEEK) -- -

Wednesday, 7:20 AM Update:

Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood says the man who was hit by debris from a combine, that hit the I-74 Pinecrest overpass Monday night, has died.

Harwood says 39-year-old Wayne Farrow of East Peoria died at 6:10 PM Tuesday at OSF St. Francis Medical Center.

He was taken to the hospital Monday night in critical condition, after the semi-tractor went under the Pinecrest overpass, and struck the underneath portion of the Pinecrest overpass causing the Metal / Steel portion of the top of the combine to tear off.

The piece of material from the combine struck the hood and cab portion of the truck, critically injuring the driver.

Harwood adds that Farrow died of traumatic head injuries, and there will be no autopsy.

A semi-truck hit the Pinecrest overpass Monday night on I-74 leading to a serious combination accident.

It happened around 6:30 p.m. with multiple emergency crews responding.

State Police and IDOT both say that IDOT has been called to inspect the bridge over I-74 which was still closed eastbound at 10 p.m.

Investigators say the semi was hauling a combine unit which then flew off the truck and hit the red Ford pick up, leaving that driver with life-threatening injuries.

IDOT crews are waiting for the crash investigation to wrap up before they can inspect the bridge for damage
