Former State Farm headquarters in downtown Bloomington
BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (WEEK) -- -
State Farm will put its downtown Bloomington skyscraper up on the market.
The insurance company told Bloomington Mayor Tari Renner, the city manager and others of their intentions to sell their former headquarters, 112 E. Washington, in a meeting Monday afternoon.
"We are in the early stages of this process, and details have not been finalized. When appropriate, we’ll share additional information," said a statement from State Farm spokesman Jim Camoriano.
The approximately 200,000 square foot building was constructed in four phases between 1929 and 1947. It served as State Farm's headquarters until 1974. The insurance company said items of historic value will be removed and preserved from the building.
