UPDATE 10 AM: Authorities on scene said the powdery substance found at the Brimfield Post Office this morning was calamine powder.
The Peoria Fire Department hazmat team is on scene after a powdery substance was found at the Brimfield Post Office.
Peoria County Sheriff Brian Asbell said his department received a call just after 8 a.m. Monday after post office employees found a powdery substance around boxes. Asbell said there was "nothing really suspicious" about the powder.
The Peoria Fire Department hazmat team will conduct field tests on the substance to determine if it poses a threat.
