Rep. Davis says administration needs to "be very careful" with "retaliatory tariff"

ST. LOUIS, MO. (WEEK) -

Rep. Rodney Davis, R-IL 13th dist. appeared on CNN Newsroom speaking about the economic impact of trade tariffs on Illinois agriculture.

Davis, speaking directly to the president on the show, said the administration needs to "be very careful" with any "retaliatory tariff" so that it does not affect the Illinois agriculture industry.

He also said that many central Illinois steel workers lost their jobs because China was "dumping cheap subsidized foreign steel" into the country.

"A day after the president talked about addressing the steel imbalance with China, they [U.S. steel in Granite City] announced they were hiring five hundred workers back," said Davis.

He said people have been hit hard by unfair trade with China.
