Military ordnance found inside a Toluca home was detonated safely by the Peoria Police Department Bomb Squad on Thursday.
The Toluca Police Department and Marshall County Sheriff's Office responded to a house in the 100 block of S. Chestnut around 4 p.m. on a report of military ordnance found in a house. The Peoria PD Bomb Squad was called in to remove the ordinance and transport it to a safe location where it could be made safe.
"Remember if you locate a suspicious item, package, pipe bomb, military grade ordinance etc. Don’t move the item and call the police," said Toluca Police Chief Nathan Guest in a press release.
This is not the first time recently the Peoria Police Department's Bomb Squad was called out to another city to handle an explosive device. This year, officers detonated a pipe bomb found in Pekin City Hall, as well as undetonated World War II era explosives found in Galesburg and Knoxville.
