UPDATE: Man killed in rural Glasford car accident identified

GLASFORD, Ill. (WEEK) -- -

UPDATE 10:30 AM: The man killed in this morning's accident in rural Glasford was 45-year-old Roger Allen Jr. of Glasford. 

The Peoria County Sheriff's Office and Timber-Hollis Fire Protection District responded to the 15000 block of W. Devils Washboard Road, about 200 feet east of Strube Road in Timber Township, around 2 a.m. Friday after a report of a single-vehicle motor vehicle accident. 

Allen was the driver and lone occupant of the vehicle when he left the roadway for unknown reasons and struck a tree on the driver's side door area of the vehicle. Allen was ejected. It is unknown if he was wearing his seatbelt. 

Allen was pronounced dead on the scene by the Peoria County Coroner. An autopsy is set for 11 a.m. Friday. 

6:27 AM UPDATE: 

Authorities confirm to 25 News that an unidentified man was heading east on West Devils Washboard road around 2 AM Friday, when for unknown reasons, he lost control of his vehicle, and hit a tree.

That man has died.

His identity has not yet been released, pending notification of next of kin.

The road has since reopened.

More information is expected to be released later today.
