Now that we're in April, lots of young ladies are shopping for prom dresses.
Those special dresses can be expensive, but they don't have to be.
It Takes a Village of Peoria is hosting a girls and gowns event on Saturday. Dresses, shoes and, accessories will line the rooms at the Carver Center.
Everything a girl needs to make the perfect night -- and it's all free. Any high school girl is welcome to shop and meet with a makeup and hair consultant. It's the ultimate girl's day.
"It's not just about the free dress. It's about the experience. Also, not limiting to just people who are low income. We recognize that you can have two parents working and still struggle financially," said Bernice Gordon-Young of It Takes a Village.
If you want to donate any items to the girls and gowns, there is still time.
Message It Takes a Village on their Facebook page or call 922-1969 to help. Donations will also be collected at the Carver Center from 9-10 a.m. on Saturday, April 7.
The prom dress giveaway is set from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday at the Carver Center.
