A somber Wednesday evening on the Peoria riverfront, at the Stand Up for Peace rally honoring Kendric Parker.
Parker was the 30-year-old stabbing victim who died on Easter Sunday.
Some two dozen people - including Parker's family - were in attendance, offering prayers and asking for justice.
"I thank God for assigning me to be his mother," said Kim Parker, "I just didn't have enough time. It didn't go as long as I wanted it to go, but I am privileged to still have some time with him."
Parker's friends and family say Kendric was an aspiring musician.
So far, no arrests in the case have been made.
A woman that was also hurt in the stabbing has not been identified.
