BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (WEEK) -- -

OSF Healthcare is donating land adjacent to OSF St. Joseph Medical Center for a new community center.

OSF announced the donation of the $3 million plot of land to the YMCA on Tuesday. The organization is currently fundraising to build the new space. The facility will move from its current space on Bloomington's west side.

The new YMCA will focus on recreation, and will offer classes on nutrition, exercise and chronic disease prevention.

“Today, our providers write prescriptions for medications. The future is also writing prescriptions for health and wellness,” said OSF St. Joseph Medical Center President Lynn Fulton. “You’re not just going there to workout – you’re going there to really join a community of others like you.”

Renderings of the new building include space for an indoor track, swimming pool, Boys and Girls Club, classrooms and a childcare center. The proposed site is at the corner of St. Joseph Drive and E. Washington.
