A Peoria firefighter suffered minor burns fighting a blaze on the city's south side late Sunday.
Firefighters responded to the house in the 1700 block of W. Lincoln Ave. just after 11 p.m. Firefighters on scene saw heavy smoke pouring from the house's second story. Crews found a fire in an upstairs bedroom spreading to an adjacent bedroom. Firefighters were able to quickly put out the fire. None of the residents were injured.
Crews performed salvage work on the first floor to protect the house from water damage. The American Red Cross is helping three adults and one child with housing. Damage is estimated at $20,000.
