Illinois lawmaker pushes for year-round Daylight Saving Time

Posted: Updated:
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WEEK) -- -

An Illinois Republican is hoping efforts to implement year-round Daylight Saving Time in Florida might gain traction in the Land of Lincoln.

State Rep. Steven Andersson (R-Geneva) introduced HB 424 last year to keep the time change year-round. The legislation stalled in the House, but Andersson told NPR Illinois he still hopes to end the cycle of falling back and springing forward.

Andersson told NPR Illinois he's advocating for the law not only to eliminate the impact on sleep, but also said studies suggest eliminating the time change increases productivity and boosts the economy.
