The developer of the Workforce apartments has pulled out of the project scrapping plans to build in East Peoria.
Mayor Dave Mingus said in the state of the city address last week that the developer was longer involved in the project.
Originally, the apartments were supposed to be built behind the Costco after it opened in The Levee District in 2013, but now it appears the project is suspended indefinitely.
"There are many factors that need to be considered before going that direction," said Mayor Dave Mingus of East Peoria. "There are other recommendations out there. So, we will just take one at a time and see what happens."
It's still unclear what the city is planning to do with the land or if they will approach another developer to continue the project.
