COLFAX, Ill. (WEEK) -- -

A shuttering McLean County animal shelter is looking for homes for its remaining pets.

Central Illinois Small Animal Rescue in Colfax is shutting down its animal shelter after 18 years. In a Facebook post, the shelter said the owners are retiring and can no longer maintain the shelter. The clinic will remain open.

"The rumors are true. The shelter is closing as of right now. We will be trying to find homes for all of the animals or other shelters. We are trying to remain open as long as possible but we don't have all the answers right now," said the shelter in a Facebook post.

Dogs are $100, and cats are $25. All animals are up to date on vaccines and are fixed and microchipped. The shelter does not have any kittens or puppies currently available.

The shelter is currently housing 48 dogs and 52 cats, according to their website.

Call CISAR at (309) 724-8241 for more information. The shelter is located at 29738 E. 1400 N. Road in Colfax.
