Who doesn't like green eggs and ham?

Friday is Dr. Seuss birthday and it brings a nation wide reading celebration.

One fish, two fish, red fish, blue fish.

Stories like these and dozens of others can shape our childhood.

The Lincoln Branch of the Peoria Public Library is making sure kids get in on all the action with activities, dedicated to Dr. Seuss and his stories.

The Children's librarian on staff said these stories that once taught us how to read, turn into so much more as time goes on.

"The Butter Battle book, The Butter Battle book was a call to arms. There were different books with different themes in them. Yertle the Turtle was about Adolf Hitler. Kids don't get that concept but for adults, they understand it," said Mary Ortiz, with the library.

The Peoria Public Library is even challenging adults to keep turning those pages.
