As Bloomington's City Council looks at budget cuts, they're raising rates on trash collection fees. Tonight the Council decided to increase trash fees. So, basically, the larger your trash can, the more you're likely to pay. The raises in rates are slight, just a 4 dollar monthly increase for 65 and 95 gallon cans, going into effect next year. Then there's a 3 percent hike for everyone in Bloomington in 2020.
The Council also talked about closing a nearly $3,000,000 deficit.
"We've crept up on this problem for far too long. I'd like to see us take action and go forward from there," shared Alderman Scott Black.
As for the budget, no decision has been reached yet.
