Medicaid patients who are part of a managed care plan with Molina Healthcare will soon be out-of-network at UnityPoint facilities.
A UnityPoint spokesman said the healthcare organization notified all patients who have Molina listed as their primary insurance of the change last year. Coverage at UnityPoint Methodist and Proctor ended at the end of 2017, but UnityPoint is honoring all visits until the end of February.
The spokesman said for complex procedures or behavioral health treatment, UnityPoint is working with Molina to get out-of-network authorizations.
“UnityPoint Health is committed to serving patients who are part of a Medicaid Managed Care plan. In 2018, we plan to partner with three Medicaid Managed Care plans we believe will collaborate with us to provide high quality service and experience. We are working closely with Molina and our patients who are Molina members to make sure this transition is as smooth as possible," said Keith Knepp, President of UnityPoint Health - Methodist, Proctor, UnityPoint Clinic and ProHealth Medical Group.
Medicaid plans accepted by UnityPoint in 2018 include Illini Care, Meridian and Blue Cross Blue Shield. Patients may enroll in a Medicaid Managed Care plan through the end of March.
