How to dodge the flu and stay healthy

CENTRAL ILLINOIS, ILL. -- -

The latest CDC flu report proves the illness is still widespread through-out the state. It doesn't show signs of stopping any time soon.

More than 3,000 positive cases of the flu have been reported in Illinois. Some of them were fatal.

You might say this flu season is being stubborn?

Maybe you or a loved one has been sick more than once. It can happen! So, how can you protect yourself against the flu in your workplace? The CDC has a list of tips for prevention.

First and foremost, stay away from people who are already sick.

  • Cover your nose or mouth if you have to sneeze or cough.
  • Disinfect your work space before starting your shift.
  • You should wash your hands with soap and water after the bathroom and before you eat.
  • Try to encourage your co-workers to stay home if they aren't feeling 100%!

Even in February it's still not too late to get a flu shot.

There are multiple strains of the flu.

This makes it easier to get re-infected.
