Salvation Army still needs help to reach holiday goals

Posted: Updated:

Christmas might be over and those red kettles have come and gone, but there are still three weeks left in the Salvation Army's Tree of Lights Campaign.

“We want to thank all the various stores that hosted our kettles again this year, which helps support our overall Tree of Lights Campaign,” said Major Jesse Collins, Tri-County Commander of The Salvation Army.

“We have our work cut out for us these last three weeks, and will be doing thank you calls, as well as follow-ups with those we have contacted but haven’t heard from yet,” said Rich Draeger, Tri-County Development Director.

But, the Tree of Lights campaign has only raised 68% of its goal, sitting at $1,310,693. The organization hopes to get $1.920,000.

Donations to the Tree of Lights Campaign can be made by mailing to The Salvation Army, PO Box 1468, Peoria, IL 61655, by calling (309) 655-7220 to charge on American Express, MasterCard, Visa or Discover, or online at peoriasalvationarmy.org.

Today our own evening anchor, Caitlin Knute, joined the Peoria Salvation Army's Advisory Board.
