State Farm employees will vacate their downtown Bloomington building by the end of the month, but the company will remain in town.
State Farm told Bloomington-Normal leaders of their plans to leave the original headquarters building, 112 E. Washington, on Thursday. The insurer said 15,000 employees will remain in the area.
The remaining 150 employees still housed in the 89-year-old office tower will be moved to the Corporate and Corporate South locations in Bloomington.
Last spring, State Farm announced plans to close 11 buildings across the U.S. over the next four years. State Farm said at the time the jobs would move to Bloomington and its other hubs in Atlanta, Dallas and Phoenix.
