Several units in the Sunnyland area have smoke damage after a garage fire during the lunch hour on Wednesday.
Just after noon at 105 Argo street the fire spread into an attic above.
Putting it out lead to smoke damage to other nearby units.
There were also secondary problems associated with the intense cold.
"Makes it difficult with all of the water that gets put on the ground. A lot of slippery surfaces and everything. The hoses are hard to hang onto. They freeze up really quick," said Asst. Chief Rick Ward from the East Peoria fire department.
No word yet on a cause for the fire.
But witnesses described hearing some kind of a pop in the garage before they saw flames.
