UPDATE: Pekin train accident cleared up; no injuries

UPDATE: 8:30 p.m. - 

The driver tells 25News she was with her husband and their two small children around 9 a.m. heading down a slight slope near north 2nd and Caroline streets..

She says she couldn't get any traction.

"I tried hard, so hard to slam on my brakes over and over and over. And she just wouldn't stop," Maria Schwarz said.

She was given a citation at the scene but felt the roads didn't have enough ice melt applied at the time.

UPDATE 12 p.m.: Second Street in Pekin is now reopen following a train versus car accident Wednesday morning. The road was closed for more than two hours. No injuries were reported. 

A train versus car accident is leading to significant traffic delays in Pekin.

An accident Wednesday morning at 2nd and Caroline in Pekin is backing up traffic. The end of the train is at 2nd and Koch. The Pekin Police Department is asking drivers to avoid the area. Traffic is expected to be delayed about an hour.

There is no word on any injuries. 

Those wanting to cross the Pekin Bridge to Peoria will be delayed. Route 9 and 24 is also shut down with backed-up traffic.
