PEORIA, Ill. (WEEK) -- -

Peoria residents may have to wait for garbage to be picked up due to the cold weather.

The city said Peoria Disposal Company's garbage trucks are running poorly today due to the effect of the cold on the trucks. Trucks are out on their regular service routes today, but some parts of town may not receive service. Any routes not completed today will be rescheduled for first thing Wednesday, before the trucks start the regular Wednesday routes.

The city said the procedure may continue for the rest of the week due to the continued cold weather outlook.

Residents should leave their trash cans at their regular spots until the garbage is picked up. Trash collection is one day late this week due to the new year holiday.

Anyone with additional questions should call PDC at (309) 674-5176 x1.
