Peoria Assistant City Manager Chris Setti will take up a broader leading role in the region's economic development.
Setti was named chief executive officer of the Greater Peoria Economic Development Council by the organization's board. He starts his new job on Jan. 15.
Setti has worked for the city of Peoria for 13 years. He has led the city's economic development efforts as assistant city manager for the last five. Setti replaces interim CEO Dennis Kief, who has filled in since Jennifer Daly left in July.
"I am excited to join the team at GPEDC," said Setti in a press release. "For over a decade I've been involved with economic development at the City of Peoria and I am looking forward to helping shape the future of the larger region. Greater Peoria has so much to offer and I know the team at GPEDC will be a big part of the region's success."
"Chris carries a big workload as assistant city manager and we rely on him for a lot of information," said Peoria Mayor Jim Ardis. "His background in economic development is extensive. Our loss is certainly GPEDC's gain and I am certain that Chris will take that organization to the next level. There's nothing more important than economic development in this region and Chris Setti is at the front of the class in that space."
