The Peoria City Council votes Tuesday night on a 2018 budget.
Council members are trying to close a multi-million dollar budget hole.
Last month, after weeks of back and forth, the council unanimously voted to move forward with a budget proposal that keeps a fire engine on the road and saves a couple of firefighter jobs originally on the chopping block.
The city manager had proposed makes deep cuts to the fire department, but that met with widespread disapproval. The budget will stand for two years if it is passed.
