The Peoria City Council will consider an ordinance to impose new fees for events at Tuesday's meeting.
The council first brought up the idea as part of the budget deliberations in October. An ordinance receiving a first reading on Tuesday would establish a $200 per police officer fee for events, and a $100 fee per intersection closed for events with city barricades.
The fee would likely impact numerous groups that hold races and other events downtown and in other parts of the city throughout the year. The city projects the new fees would raise $120,000 per year.
