Two suspects wanted in connection with several vehicle theft cases and high speed chases were arrested Sunday in Stark County.
The Kewanee Police Department said Robert Barnes, 31 was wanted in connection with stolen vehicles in Bureau, Stark, and Henry counties, including a motorcycle stolen from a Kewanee dealership. Barnes was also wanted in connection with two high speed pursuits in Bureau and Henry County. Police warned the public Barnes was considered armed and dangerous.
Kewanee police received several tips from social media after putting out a call for information on Facebook. The Stark County Sheriff's Office followed up on a sighting of a stolen 1998 Chevrolet truck in La Fayette, Ill. Deputies from Stark County, Henry County, and the Henry County Special Operations Squad arrested Barnes and Nicole Hill, 24, both of Kewanee, without incident at a house in La Fayette.
Police said the stolen truck and several stolen firearms were recovered at the house. Two stolen trailers from the Kewanee area and two stolen motorcycles from Stark County and Kewanee were recovered by authorities at several different locations.
Barnes currently faces multiple felony charges in Stark, Henry and Bureau counties. The Stark County News reports Barnes and Hill faec charges of possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of guns by a felon and criminal trespass to a residence. Both suspects are in the Stark County Jail.
The Kewanee Police Department said more information will be released following the completion of the investigation.
