Goodwill of Central Illinois holds monthly job fairs for both the unemployed and underemployed across a vast array of fields.
PEORIA, Ill. (WEEK) -- -
Dozens of Central Illinois job-seekers got a helping hand today, thanks to Goodwill.
And it wasn't just unskilled labor jobs; manufacturing, insurance and skilled training positions were also listed.
Goodwill, the American Job Center and Career Link all provided resume-building and cover letter tips, and many of the companies were doing on-the-spot interviews.
It's really been a success - Goodwill boasts about a 50% placement rate, and up to 65% for veterans.
"For me, it's about helping people," explains Goodwill's Senior Program Manager Johanna Wagner. "I was in that situation, I understand it completely. I like to be able to provide resources and any help that I can provide myself. But it is a great feeling to be able to help people."
And it isn't just for the unemployed. If you're underemployed or feel as if you're not working in the right field, Goodwill is more than willing to help.
This wasn't a one-and-done - Goodwill holds these events through the year. If you don't want to wait, you can contact Goodwill at (309) 682-1113. Wagner has also provided her personal extension at (x2117), or you can check out their website.
