NORMAL, Ill. (WEEK) -- -

Normal, Ill. (WEEK) -- Care Act, otherwise known as Obamacare, but the season is now shortened to six weeks.

Members of the Voices of Reason progressive group held a rally in Normal on Thursday to kick-off enrollment. This featured a Town Crier making announcements while members geared up to pass out fliers. The hundreds of fliers were paid for by the group, which has about 2,400 members. They plan to take them to pharmacies, doctors offices and community centers.

Voices of Reason leader Jodie Slothower says the group is doing this promotion because she feels the federal government isn't.

"We want people to know about it and the federal government has drastically cut back on the promotions. So, grassroots groups across the country are announcing this opening of the ACA enrollment period," said Slothower.

Enrollment runs through December 15.

“Each year, the Fall brings open enrollment for individuals looking to join the health insurance exchange. Unfortunately, under Obamacare these exchanges continue to offer fewer options and higher costs with each passing year. Improving access to affordable health insurance is an issue I have worked on all year, and I will continue to advocate for solutions that provide more options and lower costs for those needing coverage," said U.S. Rep. Darin LaHood (R-Peoria).
