Many braved the cold Saturday morning to participate in a fundraising event for the organization, 'Moms Who Care.'
There were some passionate supporters.
About 55 people were in attendance and 13 ran in the race, but it's all for a great cause.
For those who don't know, 'Moms Who Care' helps disadvantaged students in nine area schools by providing things like gently used clothing, hygiene products, and snacks.
Founder Barbara McDonald and other local moms saw a need in 2009 and have been game changers in students' lives.
McDonald said she's overwhelmed by the community's generosity
"It touched my heart because it's cold out and umm people still came. They were committed to helping and showing that they care about our students," said McDonald.
They've helped around 1,200 students over the past eight years.
This initiative has helped create a new culture in the school environment and that many at-risk students now feel more accepted and valued by others.
Proceeds from the race will help cover the cost of supplies.
