Amusement park approval in Peoria raises concern from neighbors

Posted: Updated:

Peoria, Ill. (WEEK) -- Go-karts, batting cages and bumper boats are now in the works for Peoria. A proposed amusement park off of Orange Prairie road was approved Tuesday night at the city council meeting. The amusement park would go in the lot next to the future BigShots Golf.

A nearby neighbor, Pam Parmenter, tells me that this isn't the development she expected for the area. She says that her biggest concern is noise from one specific part of this project.

"I don't think there is a public nuisance from putt-putt golf or batting cages... but from the go-karts. We had a concern about the noise. In the public hearings he said that he reached out to the neighbors... but he has not reached out to us. We've provided our names.. phone numbers", said Parmenter.

She says she learned about the potential amusement park through a sign posted on the property when she was driving by.

We reached out to property owner Mike Larson for details about the park, but he declined to speak with us on camera today.
