Ready to get spooked? Haunted houses are creeping up all across Central Illinois, just ready to give you a shiver down your spine. We have a list of some places you can go to get scared.
Spook Hollow, 613 Lasalle Boulevard, Marquette Heights. For 39 years, the Marquette Heights Men's Club has scared Central Illinoisans at Independence Park. Spider Hill Haunted Attractions, Three Sisters Park, 17189 N. Illinois Rt. 29, Chillicothe. A massacre mansion, trail of terror and zombie invasion await you at Three Sisters Park. Open every Friday and Saturday in October from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. Attractions open at 7 p.m. A pass to all events costs $25. Click here for more information.
Downs Haunted House, 107 E. Franklin, Downs. This haunted house has scared the pants off people since 2002. Visitors from as far as Tennessee and Nebraska have made the trip to this small McLean County town for the haunted house. Tickets are sold in Dooley Park, two blocks northeast of the house. Single pass is $5. The haunted house is open every Friday and Saturday in October. For more information, click here.
Forest City Fright Night, 106 W. Market St, Forest City. Make the trip down to this quaint Mason County community to check out the haunted attraction voted one of the top 10 "Must See" haunts in Illinois by The Scare Factor. Halls of Horror, 601 Rusche Road, Creve Coeur. Check out one of Central Illinois' newest attractions. This haunted attraction takes place every Friday and Saturday in October from 7 p.m. to midnight. All proceeds go back to the community for future events. Check out their Facebook page here.
Heyworth Haunted Trail. Just west of Heyworth on Illinois Route 136. Visitors braving the woods after dark may see a ghost or two. Hayracks will also make their way through the park and spooky trials. October 13 and 14, 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Cost is $5 per person. More information here.
Nightmare on Fairgrounds Road, 811 W. Peru Street, Princeton. It's the 14th year for thrills and chills in scenic Princeton. Tickets are sold from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. every Friday and Saturday in October. Admission is $10. A free concert by Sin Thetic Friday can also be enjoyed at Mummie's Cafe. Click here for more info.
Haunted Infirmary at Bartonville Insane Asylum, 4500 Enterprise Dr., Bartonville. Open every Friday and Saturday in October from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m. Tickets $15 per person available online until 6 p.m. or at the gate until midnight or at capacity. Patrons must arrive at the gate by midnight to get in. Recommended ages 14 and up. Proceeds benefit Limestone JFL and the Peoria State Hospital Museum. Click here for more information.
