Illinois Democratic Gubernatorial Candidate Chris Kennedy made an appearance at the Morton Pumpkin Festival.
Kennedy and his new running-mate Ra Joy have been campaigning up and down the land of Lincoln, and Morton was their latest stop.
Kennedy says, if elected, his primary focus would be on education reform and using that as a springboard to boost the state's economy.
"Today the companies are moving to where the highly-educated kids are," said Kennedy. "If we don't produce highly-educated kids, jobs will leave Illinois, and that's what's happening now."
Kennedy also believes that elected officials should not hold outside jobs, especially if they, "interfere with the body they were elected to serve," specifically speaking to property tax reform.
