After more than four long years, homes damaged by the 2013 landslide in East Peoria will be demolished. Seven homes were destroyed when heavy rains back in April 2013 caused the landslide in the Pinecrest Hills subdivision. The city council approved the buyouts of the homes back last October. FEMA approved grant money in 2014 to purchase the homes from the owners, at pre-landslide value. The property owners will receive a total of two point seven million in FEMA grant money. The rest of that money will go towards demolition, and utilization of property.
