An East Peoria police officer and two others suffered minor injuries in a crash this morning, reportedly while escorting the St. Jude Motorcycle Ride through Pekin.
The Illinois State Police said the officer was involved in a crash on 2nd St. near the intersection of Fayette around 9:40 a.m. Police said the officer's rear tire slid out from under the motorcycle while making his way around a curve, possibly due to loose gravel on the road. The officer laid his motorcycle down, and it slid into another, non-police motorcycle, causing it to crash.
Both the officer and the driver and passenger of the second vehicle were taken to OSF Saint Francis with minor injuries. No citations have been issued.
