Get ready to take a wide berth around Northmoor Road at Rosemead beginning next week.
Northmoor will be closed at Rosemead (the Exposition Gardens entrance) beginning Monday, September 18 for a construction project. The project will last through early to mid-December. No traffic will be allowed across the intersection of Northmoor and Rosemead in any direction. Two-way, local traffic will be allowed east-west of the closure area.
Marked detours will be available via Willow Knolls Road or Glen Ave. If you travel on Northmoor to get to Richwoods High School, Expo Gardens, Rosewood Care Center or other nearby locations, you must come and go from Northmoor's intersection with University. To get to Northmoore Elementary or any location west of Rosemead Drive, enter west of Rosemead Drive.
Local traffic should allow for extra time to reach destinations.
When construction is completed, Northmoor will be totally rebuilt between Allen Road and University, with three lanes, sidewalks, a biking/walking path, and ornamental trees, lighting and plants.
The $10.5 million project is supported by $7 million in federal grants.
