PCAV holds stand down for Peoria homicide victim

Posted: Updated:

Some Peoria residents, family and relatives are remembering the city's latest homicide victim Eric Brownlee, during a stand down held Tuesday evening.
The Peoria County  Coroner says the 26-year-old Brownlee died from a gunshot wound to the neck.

Peoria police were called to a home on Rock Island Avenue Friday night where Brownlee was apparently visiting friends.
One member of the Peoria Community Against Violence says they hope to provide some kind of support for the family.

"A lot of times we're at a loss for words.  we just like to embrace them pretty much let them know they're not alone and we console them, comfort them the best way we can, if not with words just a hug," said PCAV Chairman Terry Burnside.

Brownlee is the city's 8th homicide victim.  The stand down against violence will start at 6 pm at the Gateway building on Peoria's riverfront
