All Illinois hunters will be able to hunt with crossbows during archery seasons this fall.
A new state law lifted restrictions on crossbow hunting. Previously, only people aged 62 or older, people with disabilities, and some youth hunters could receive a crossbow hunting permit. All archery hunters were allowed to use crossbows beginning the Monday after the second firearm deer season.
The archery deer and turkey seasons are October 1 through January 14, 2018. Archery seasons are closed Nov. 17-19 and Nov. 30-Dec. 3.
