PEORIA, Ill. (WEEK) -

The American Red Cross Central and Southern Illinois Region is recruiting new volunteers to assist with the recovery efforts from Hurricane Irma and Hurricane Harvey.

To speed up the process, the Red Cross is offering Just In Time—a fast track training for those interested in deploying to help with the ongoing hurricane recovery efforts.

The classes will focus on sanitation protocol, checking people in, providing emotional support for victims and above else, safety.

One volunteer, Cindy Clark recently wrapped up volunteering in Texas.

She says things got so bad that they ran out of water and had to use milk to flush toilets.

Supplies and support are running out which is why she says the fast track training for relief volunteers is crucial.

Local Red Cross officials are emphasizing the need for volunteers and assistance for victims affected by the hurricanes even after the storms have ended.

Just In Time training classes will continue throughout the rest of September and into October, allowing volunteers to be certified to deploy as long as they are older than 16, pass a background check and attend just one of the 8 hour courses listed below.
