Police helped Bloomington residents realize that violent offenders are likely living among them.

215 is the number of actively-registered and monitored violent and sexual offenders living in Bloomington.

Those attending the bi-monthly community meeting Wednesday evening learned these individuals have been deemed violent or sexually-violent by the courts and have served their sentence.

"There are currently 213 individuals actively required to register in Bloomington. The vast majority of those individuals are sex offenders - the vast majority of that number of child sexual offenders," said Officer Shawn Albert.

Bloomington police say they have the second-highest density of violent and sexual offenders per-capita as of this summer.
