Christine Kahl is the president CEO of the South Side Office of Concern.
We're a small nonprofit and we specialize serving in the homeless population in a four-county area. We provide street outreach to homeless individuals and homeless families, and then at the opposite in we actually provide housing and end homelessness.
Many of the housing programs that we have developed and put into place here we've done so in the face of adversity. I'm driven to do this work. This is something I passionately believe in.
I have a 26-year-old son whose had special needs since he was three years old and that drives a lot of my motivation to do this work, that I believe everyone has the right to live in the community outside of an institution, outside of being on the streets, and so I tend to be very persistent and I don't give up on that.
