Whether it's a long term illness or a sudden death, having a plan for your assets after you're gone is important. The Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund held a workshop geared toward preparing seniors for the future.
The IMRF workshop gave seniors tips on preparing for major life decisions and preventing their children and other loved ones from squabbles that these situations can sometimes cause. One tip given during the workshop was to write things down. Sometimes just telling a loved one your wishes isn't enough.
I visited the home of a lady who attended the work shop and she said it's time for her to make a plan. Although she only has one son she says finding a way to divvy up he things between her six grandchildren might be a tough one.
Susan Latta from Bartonville said "My son is an avid music lover. So my son's going to get all my albums. He collects albums...I have a lot of music posters of groups we mutually enjoy so he will probably get those."
The next workshop will be tomorrow august 9th in Galena, IL.
Between 50 and 75 people attended today.
I'm crystal Donaldson Caitlin and Tyler back to you.
