A longtime fixture in the Town of Normal's government will retire after nearly 30 years in government.
Normal City Manager Mark Peterson will retire at the end of March 2018. Peterson started as the town's assistant city manager back in 1988, and became the city manager after David Anderson retired in June 1998.
“I chose to make this announcement several months in advance of my actual retirement date in order to give the Mayor and Council ample time to develop and undertake a process to replace me,” Peterson said.
Peterson also serves on numerous boards, including the MetCom Emergency Communications Center, Bloomington-Normal Economic Development Council, Connect Transit, and others.
Peterson is married, with two son and one granddaughter.
