Peoria area Congressman Darin LaHood will spend part of his summer recess from congress overseas.
Lahood will leave Monday to visit both Israel and Lebanon.
In a statement, LaHood's trip is to help him gain a firsthand understanding of the regional challenges, and America's strategic relationship with both countries.
It is his first overseas trip since he took office back in 2015.
LaHood, himself, is a descendant of Lebanese heritage, as his great grandparents immigrated to America from Aytou, Lebanon.
