Washington residents, it is now safe to drink your water straight from the tap again.
The city passed all IEPA tests with flying colors, and the precautionary boil order is now lifted after three days. The boil order was put into effect August 1 for a planned maintenance project at one of the city's water treatment plants.
During a boil order, boil your water for at least five minutes before drinking it or using it to prepare food. Tap water is generally safe to use for bathing, showering and household cleaning during a boil order.
