State. Rep. Bill Mitchell will not run for another term next year.
The Republican from Forsyth announced Thursday he will retire at the end of his term in January 2019. The representative currently recommends part of McLean County, and also represented parts of Logan and Tazewell counties in the past.
“The people of Central Illinois have given me more than I could ever repay: the honor to serve them,” Mitchell said. “During my remaining time in office, I will continue to fight for good-paying jobs for our working families, a high-quality education for every child, and the protection of vital services for our seniors.”
Mitchell has been in the Illinois House since 1999. Previously, he was a Decatur city councilman and Decatur's mayor pro tem.
