Police are investigating a fire at a historic Civil War-era Chillicothe mansion believed to be arson.
Chillicothe firefighters responded to the fire at 721 N. Third Street around 11:15 a.m. Friday. Heavy smoke was pouring from the building when crews arrived on scene. Crews remained on scene until 6 p.m. Firefighters from Lacon-Sparland, Henry, Dunlap and Princeville also responded to the call.
The Chillicothe Police Department is asking anyone for information on the arson to call (309) 274-2129 or the arson hotline at (800) 252-2947.
