PEORIA, Ill. (WEEK) -- -

Peoria police officers were able to help a disabled resident quickly escape a small house fire in Peoria on Sunday.

Police took the resident out of the house in the 1600 block of S. Stanley by helping the bed-ridden woman into a wheelchair and taking her outside. Firefighters found a small fire on the second floor started by a child living at the house. The fire was put out with an extinguisher. Firefighters later talked to the child.

There were no injuries. Damage was estimated at $3,000.
