BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (WEEK) -- -
UPDATE: The Bloomington Police Department said this case is now closed after talking with a social service agency because "several communication errors" were made by involved parties. Police said they applaud the counselors for not releasing the child without "proper documentation being shown."
The Bloomington Police Department is looking for a "suspicious" man who tried to pick up a child at a swimming pool.
Police said the man arrived at the O'Neil Park pool on Thursday and said he was with Child Protective Services. He said he needed to pick up a child, but counselors didn't allow the man to take the child.
The man is described as a black man, late 40's to early 50's in age, 6 feet in height. He said his name is "Israel" and had a strong accident, possibly African in origin.
No arrests have been made. The investigation is ongoing.
